Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-10-10

I run Shenzhen Decoded. Here's what happens to your data when you use it.

Visits and cookies

I use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages, tools, and affiliate links people use. It sets cookies and records page URLs and interactions. See Google's privacy policy.

Vercel Web Analytics also measures visits. Vercel hosts this site and keeps server/request logs to operate it.

Your browser also remembers checklist progress and whether you've submitted feedback or a comment, using local storage.

What you send

Submissions are stored in Supabase:

  • Border reports: crossing, wait time, crowd level, and a SHA-256 hash of your IP for rate limiting — not your raw IP in the report.
  • Guide feedback: helpful/not helpful, category, optional message, guide/page, and an IP hash.
  • Comments: name, email, comment, guide, moderation status, and an IP hash. Approved names and comments appear publicly; emails don't.
  • Assistant: your question, page, language, source guides, hashed session/IP identifiers, and technical usage details. Ratings and optional feedback are stored too. Chat uses an assistant_session cookie; when the AI service is configured, your question and recent conversation go to that provider to generate a reply.

Please don't put passwords, passport numbers, or other sensitive details in a submission.

Partner links and questions

Affiliate links take you to a partner's site. Its own cookies and privacy policy apply there. I see aggregate click/booking reports, not your payment details.
