Shenzhen–Hong Kong Border Wait Times
Check this before you leave Hong Kong, not after you are already trapped in a queue. The feed below pulls official Hong Kong Immigration departure data for the main Shenzhen crossings and refreshes every 5 minutes.

Before you leave Hong Kong
Start with HZMB Bridge if the route fits
港珠澳大桥 · Normal
HZMB Bridge is the lightest open crossing in the official feed right now. That does not automatically make it the right port — destination, late-night timing, and visa rules still get a vote.
Long-haul coach transfers and western Guangdong connections. Rarely the easiest choice for a first Shenzhen stop, but useful when the broader route requires it.
All Crossings
Latest official check: Updated just nowMost first-timers heading into Futian CBD or central Shenzhen
Fully indoor MTR handoff. Usually the least confusing crossing when you want the simplest HK-to-metro route.
People going straight to Luohu Commercial City or the older east-side core
Easy by MTR, but it becomes crowded quickly on weekends and shopping-heavy days.
Nanshan, Shekou, the airport, or anyone arriving by taxi or cross-border bus
A strong alternative when Futian is clogged and your destination is on the west side.
Long-haul coach transfers and western Guangdong connections
Rarely the easiest choice for a first Shenzhen stop, but useful when the broader route requires it.
Eastern Shenzhen or quieter routing when the main city crossings are jammed
Lower profile and often calmer, but less convenient if your destination is central Shenzhen.
Late-night crossings and flexible fallback when the standard MTR ports are overloaded
The 24-hour option. Useful once other ports get slow or if your timing slips into the evening.

After you cross
Fix these before Shenzhen gets annoying
Your first hour is easier if payment, data, and the metro are already handled. Do this while you are still in the queue.
Set up Alipay before you cross
Cash will not save you at the convenience store. Do the foreign-card setup now, while HK data still works.
Get data the moment you land
Install the China eSIM before immigration. The first taxi QR code is a bad place to discover roaming is dead.
Metro from the border into the city
Futian and Luohu hand you straight to the metro. Know the line before the signs start shouting at you.

About the Hong Kong–Shenzhen Border Crossings
There are six main Hong Kong-to-Shenzhen crossings, and the quietest one is not always the one you should use. Futian is usually the cleanest first-timer handoff, Shenzhen Bay helps west-side trips, and Huanggang is the 24-hour fallback. The official feed reports queue bands rather than exact minute counts, so this page uses labels like “Normal”, “Busy”, and “Very Busy”.
