Turn the VPN off first.

If Alipay opens but the payment fails, your VPN is the first suspect. Chinese payment apps do not like tunneled traffic.

  1. 1Disconnect the VPN completely. Do not just pause it.
  2. 2Wait three seconds, reopen Alipay, and scan again.
  3. 3If it still fails, switch from WiFi to mobile data or the other way around.
  4. 4After the payment clears, turn the VPN back on.
